What “adult-friendly” means here
A studio that lets an adult stand at the back of a children's class is not the same as a studio that builds a class for adults. These are the rules we use.
To be listed
- The studio offers at least one ballet class meant for adults (adults only, or clearly labeled adult/open), not a kids' class adults may join.
- The class level is stated on the studio's own page, or we say it isn't.
- We can find a public page for the class, and every fact on the listing comes from that page or from the studio itself.
The badges
- Beginner-friendly
- The studio's page says the class needs no prior ballet experience (or 0–1 years).
- Returner-friendly
- The studio describes a class for people who danced before and are coming back, or an adult level just above true beginner.
- Drop-in
- You can pay for one class at a time, without committing to a session or monthly plan. Pre-booking may still be required.
- Verified
- The studio has claimed its listing and confirmed its details with us. In this preview only the American Academy of Ballet is verified.
- Unclaimed · unverified
- Gathered from the studio's public page and not yet confirmed by the studio.
- Featured
- A paid placement (Featured Studio, $99/month or $990/year, or City Spotlight, $2,500/year). It earns a top spot on a city page, photos, a schedule and a trial-class link. It is always labeled, it is separate from Verified, and it never changes a studio's level badges or whether any other studio is listed. Featured studios must still meet every criterion above.
Keeping it current
Every listing shows the date we last checked it. Listings not confirmed for six months are flagged as possibly out of date.
What we never do
- Charge to be listed.
- Invent schedules, prices or levels.
- Sell a badge.
